What data we collect
We collect personal data only when you actively engage with us. Specifically:
- Booking a discovery call via our Calendly link: your name, email address, the date and time you select, and any notes you choose to add.
- Contacting us by email: your name, email address, and the contents of your message.
- Browsing the site: standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) collected by our hosting provider for security and reliability purposes.
We do not run analytics, advertising pixels, or cross-site tracking on this website.
Why we use it
We rely on the following lawful bases under UK GDPR:
- Legitimate interest: responding to your enquiry, scheduling and preparing for our discovery call, and operating a secure website.
- Contract: where you become a client, processing your data to deliver the engagement we've agreed.
- Consent: where you've explicitly opted in (for example, to receive a follow-up email or document).
Who we share it with
We share data only with service providers that help us operate the site and our business. Each operates under their own privacy policy:
- Calendly (Calendly LLC, USA) - processes scheduling data when you book a call. Calendly privacy policy.
- Cloudflare - processes basic server logs while serving the site.
- Zoho - processes email correspondence.
Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where that's the case, transfers are protected by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision.
We do not sell your data, and we don't share it with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't lead to an engagement: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Client records: for the duration of the engagement and 6 years after the final invoice (to comply with UK accounting and tax requirements).
- Server logs: typically 30-90 days, depending on the hosting provider.
Cookies
This site sets no first-party cookies. The only third-party cookies that may be set are by Calendly, and only if you click "Book a 45-min call" and engage with the booking widget. If you don't open the widget, no Calendly cookies are set.
If we add analytics or other tracking in future, we'll update this notice and ask for your consent before any non-essential cookies are set.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data ("right to erasure")
- Object to or restrict our processing
- Request a portable copy of data you've provided
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@starboardpartners.co.uk. We'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.
